Motivation

As a pro #bmx athlete & brain tumor survivor, I’ve gone through many challenges in life. #Motivation has always been the determining factor at overcoming each challenge. I believe this to be true for any person.

What helps?

  1. A Clear Vision for your life with a strong Goal, WHY, or Purpose.
  2. Health: Mindset, Nutrition & Fitness.
  3. Music.

My Cape Cod brother, Tommy Rowland’s music motivates me each and every day. His story and affirmations in his music inspire me to reach further and further for greatness.

Shit is going to happen in life and that’s just reality. What separates people that reach greatness from the norm is motivation to continue when times get time.

I challenge you all to foster a new perspective next time you come across a challenge or hardship. At the end of the day, there are no failures. Just opportunities to learn how to succeed moving forward. That is, if we CHOOSE to see if that way. 💚✌️

“See lately I’ve been talking shit like two commas is light. And lately the shit I’m talking manifests in my life. Lately I hear they words and it’s a cry of neglection. I never bragged the way I do when it wasn’t the truth.” – Rowlan

Alive

Hi! My name is Josh Perry, and I’m a pro BMX athlete living with 4 brain tumors and coaching people to make life changing choices in their lives to optimize their brain and enhance their life.

BMX is what’s me feel most alive. It’s not only shown me the world, kept me out of trouble, taught me valuable life lessons, and gave me amazing experiences and relationships, it saved my life in March of 2010.

That is the beginning of my journey with a braintumor that lead to me living with 4 today. It’s also what put me on the path to holistic health. It doesn’t stop me, it fuels me.

I’m thankful for brands like Kevita Drinks and their mission to provide health beverages that taste great and make you feel amazing and ALIVE. 🙏🏼💚

Comment or DM me to connect and share stories. ☺️✌️

Guild Mortgage Leadership Summit

What an honor to coach the EVP of the county’s top private mortgage company, Guild Mortgage, and his fellow staff and family leading to their annual leadership summit in San Diego, CA. The successes and experiences they have shared with me from us working together is priceless. It’s what I am most passionate about in life and being able to combine my childhood dream of being a pro bmx athlete is even better.

This was one special event for me to be able to perform in front of my family along with the top 700+ earners within Guild Mortgage, especially after coaching Barry (EVP, on the left in this photo) and the others leading up to the event. Greg Woodruff (pictured on the right) was an amazing production manager with Gary Musick Productions and put on an event that topped what I had imagined. Oh, and Greg is enrolled in my Be The Change YOU Want To See health coaching program now too as well as a good friend and collaborative partner of mine.

Barry, Greg, and the whole attendance have such amazing personalities and welcomed Jackie and myself with loving open arms full of support for what we believe in and how to help us all succeed in health and happiness. I am grateful for moments like these and for Jill Transki of All Wheel Sports to have me apart of the performance, which led to an amazing opportunity to share my passion for brian health and optimization. 🙌🏼💚❤️💯

A Change In Priorities

Starting & operating my own health coaching business, continuing to work on my non-profit event with the Athlete Recovery Fund, and prioritizing my training, I haven’t been able to ride as often as I’d like. But that’s ok because I’m still riding and maintaining a professional level.

With time, priorities change and life is always evolving. Although I ride at the same level as when I was solely providing for myself off BMX, there’s no pressure to ride any way other than what I want. I still love it as much as ever and push myself to maintain that level with some progression mixed in.

That being said, it’s a really cool feeling to be pursuing new found passions of promoting nutrition, fitness, and mindset techniques to help people become as well as they possibly can while utilizing my love and hard work over the years to bring this information to the people in a fun and exciting manner through BMX

Moving forward, I’m still creating partnerships with brands and corporations to fuel my riding/training lifestyle while being able to reach more people along the way with my passion for healthy living. As for competing, if it makes sense then I’ll compete. If not, I don’t NEED to.

I’m in a really cool place in life where I have nothing but gratitude for the opportunities my hard work and experiences have led me to along with the belief to make it all possible.

Outwork the Negativity

Doubt and fear, among many other negative beliefs, are just that. Beliefs. Not facts. We choose what to believe. Sadly, many are born into “traditional” beliefs and/or believe in what society suggests to be what they should believe. I sure did. Then through a few life or death situations, an exploration to figure out who I was and what I wanted out of life, and pursuing what I love, I created my own beliefs from the data I’ve collected over my short 29 years on this planet as who they call “Josh Perry”. I encourage you all to do what you love and push through the fear and doubt that arises, no matter what it’s origin is. It’s up to you in which you believe. Fear, or love. Choose love. It’s much more enjoyable. 💚✌️

Success Is Rented

People think success is easy for some or “over-night” for others. FALSE! Success is a constant work in progress or practice, if you will.
It’s day in and day out choices we make to better our lives. It’s a constant effort. It may looks “easy” to some, but that’s because they enjoy what they do.
When you lead a path of little to no resistance, have gratitude for your life, work hard to be the best you can be, visualize the life you want and take action towards it, success is inevitable.
Set a goal, have a WHY or purpose for that goal, visualize and take action, and believe in yourself. That’s all it takes. 💯💚✌️

Stop Complaining

Whether you believe you can or can’t, you’re 100% correct. You determine the possibilities for your life. No one or thing can do that but you. No excuses. Stop with the excuses that keep you from taking action and putting the work in.

I’m sick of people complaining when they don’t have it bad. They just look around at “what is” rather than what they want. They focus on what they don’t have rather than ways to obtain what they want. STOP IT!

Your life could always be worse. You’re alive if you can’t think of how it could be worse. Maybe travel to a new country to gain perspective. Maybe do something risky to gain perspective. MAYBE, get the hell off social media and comparing your life to others?

Just because someone suggests you can or can’t doesn’t mean it’s fact. Your beliefs and actions determine the outcome. The power of suggestion is powerful but only if you allow it to be so. Good or bad. You choose your outcome. F all the noise. Do YOU!

Uninspired “WORK”

We worry & focus on money too much!

Money is just a tool.

It’s important yet has no true value or meaning other than what we instill upon it.

If you had a million dollars, would you be happy? If it just sat in a room & you couldn’t take it out or “spend” it, would you sill love it so much? Of course not. It’s not the money, it’s what you’d do with it and the emotional response it’d bring with it.

I encourage all of us to focus on the things we enjoy in life, the things we love doing most or would love to do most, and the emotional state it’d bring along with doing these things. Not the money.

When we focus on the things we love, actively pursue those things we love, and create that emotional response and space of the energy we live in, we can then attract the money. It may not show up in the form of a lump sum in your bank account. But, it’ll show up in the form of opportunity.

There is plenty of money out there for us all to live abundant lives. We just much choose to recognize it and believe we are all worthy of receiving it.

Uninspired work to make a dollar doesn’t lead to fulfillment and abundance. It may pay the bills but always have you working to make that money rather than enjoying what you’re doing and contributing to society as your best and happiest version that we all owe the universe and one another.

Wouldn’t you rather be inspired to contribute your talents, passions, skills, help, love, etc. to the world and show up happy and motivated every day? Or would you rather wake up dreading your daily tasks and way of providing for yourself, thus keeping you uninspired, unhappy, stressed, and feeling in lack?

I choose inspired work. I choose to work for a purpose I believe in. I choose the belief that I am worthy of abundance and that we all are, and that we all have something unique to contribute. I choose love!

It’s a belief. People are not just rich or poor because that is so. It’s a belief in which they make that a reality or sustain that reality.

We can choose to see the world as it is and be “right” in our claims about why it is so, or we can choose to make a difference in our lives and live an inspired and happy life. It’s a choice. Not a fact.

What do you choose? 💚✌️

Sacrifices & Hard Work

“Everyone wants to win. But to truly succeed whether it is a sport or at your job or in your life you have to be willing to do the hard work, overcome challenges, and make the sacrifices it takes to be the best at what you do.” -Ronda Rousey, from her book “My Fight/Your Fight”

Never mind the fact I went into a 6 hour life or death full on open cranial surgery (April 2010) to remove a brain tumor that took up half my brain, but just within BMX I face so many challenges, sacrifices, and have to put in 100% every time I ride or I may end up in the hospital. That’s the reality of our sport and life in general to some degree.

We always face fear, challenges, and uncertainties. The hard work, persistence, and determination to be better than our previous selves are what gets up past these challenges. I started to take all of this even more serious after having a full reconstructive surgery (November 2015) on my right knee and an ACL and meniscus tear.

I don’t see it as hard work anymore. I see it as just something that needs to be done to get to where I want to be and then where I want to progress from there. That’s the beauty of life. It never stops providing an opportunity to grow and progress in any facet of our lives. Once we shift our minds from seeing an experience as “good” and “bad” to seeing all experiences as an equal opportunity to learn from and progress from, things become clear and precise.

A few days ago I was told the two brain tumors I currently live with are stable after shrinking for two years, thanks to Gamma Knife Radiosurgery (November 2012). Then I was told I face two more challenges. I now have 2 new brain tumors residing on the opposite side of my brain that the original tumor operated on (April 2010) was taken from. This makes me a little uneasy seeing as I was told the original tumor was benign yet new masses are appearing in other areas of my brain. Again, that’s life and the cards I am dealt and I have to play the game with these “cards” now. That shit hand isn’t going to stop me!

For me, #BMX is my everything. It’s my obsession, my state of meditation, my hobby, my career, my life, and my only option. I know I’ll never ride at this level forever, but I do know the hard work I’m putting in on and off my bike right now will benefit my career and what I create for when I’m no longer riding at a professional level. For now, BMX is what keeps me motivated to not let anything or anyone hold me back from accomplishing my goals in life and I’m forever grateful for my parents getting me my first bike.

I live, breath, eat, and sleep BMX. I feel that’s what it takes to do something you dream of in life. There are no excuses, just the ones we lean on in times of hardship and fear. I know first hand that’s not an option to living the life of our dreams. 💚✌️
