Do you track total or “net” carbs?

Tracking net carbs can actually be detrimental to our goals until we become fat-adapted.🧐

As it states, often times when people are not seeing success while on a ketogenic diet, or are new to a low-carb and ketogenic diet, net carbs can be the culprit to why they are not seeing the results they are looking for.

Net carbs can be the reason why people are hovering around that ketogenic state but not really getting into ketosis and not providing enough glucose for the brain to not be in a stressed state, leading to “survival mode” and not allowing body fat to be burned.

I personally recommend my clients, as well as those new to this way of eating, to stick to whole foods rather than the processed foods, even “Keto friendly” snacks that may contain certain fibers and sugar alcohols that do raise glucose in contrast to what most of believe about them.

I recommend to track total carbs so you can ensure exactly what’s being consumed and that there isn’t all the variables of sugar alcohols or tricky “fibers”.
