Resistance Training

Resistance training should be apart of anyone’s weekly exercise regimen.

It’s not about gaining mass, unless you want to, it’s about overall health, strength, and wellbeing.

You don’t need to do crossfit, Olympic lifts, power lifting, etc. unless that’s what you enjoy.

.

Keeping it simple with functional movements and some HIIT every now and then is all you need to stay healthy in terms of brian and body

.

Personally, I start my day with resistance training 3 days a week and typically it’s either fully fasted or it’s fueled by a “fat” coffee with the following:

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ @kerrygoldusa grass-fed butter

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ @gardenoflife MCT oil with very little lauric acid (C-12) for instant brain energy in the form of ketones

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ @wildfoodsco reishi or lions mane πŸ„ powder

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ and @perfectketones nootropic for added ketone energy and cognitive function support.

The other days of the week are compiled or MAHR (mac aerobic heart rate) for leak fat oxidation (fat burning) and gymnastics rings and movements for core and shoulder work. I also add in sprint intervals each 7-10 days.

Personally, my training is geared towards BMX and is a bit more intense than the non-athlete needs to train. It’s also been built over years of training and being coached.

Bottom line- find a way to move your body every day, get some resistance training in your schedule, and add in HIIT and sprints once in a while. Your brain and body will thank you!

Oh! And, eat more healthy fats! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Are You Grateful?

What are you grateful for?

https://www.facebook.com/JoshPerryBMX/videos/1721107524625597/

I’ve have a ton of experiences that I could have just given up and walked away from what I was doing.

From flat lining on a contest course floor, to brain tumors and living out of my car. I’ve experienced so many highs and lows.

What kept me moving forward was the fact that my perspective shifted to gratitude for my life and to be alive. Gratitude for those experiences among an extraordinary journey. Gratitude for all the love and support in my life. Gratitude to be breathing.

So, I challenge everyone of you to see all the love and positivity in your life no matter what you’re going through.

I can’t guarantee it’ll change the current reality of the situation, but I can guarantee it’ll change your internal being and how you view life, which will then manifest into positivity rather than more negativity. πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Fear Is A Choice

My belief is that fear is just a thought that comes from past experiences and external sources regarding our current state and the future, which is unknown.

So many of us find ourselves living in fear out of necessity. Society tells us to have a backup plan, a “plan b”, or to take the “safe” route, which they don’t tell you is just as guaranteed for you to find success as you making your own path. It all comes down to your choices, beliefs, and vision.

It’s not always easy and I can surely resonate with that. But, I find I’m happier, healthier, and more successful when I follow my heart and vision for the life I want to live. I could have stayed on the path I was heading and I would have had my own landscaping business on Cape Cod long ago but that wouldn’t have led me to happiness or fulfillment, shown me the world, or led me to who I am today.

Don’t settle for suffering in the moment because it’s familiar, maybe not desirable but it’s what you know and easier than the resistance to go against the norm. Rather than staying where you are out of fear of failure, judgment, letting others expectations down, etc., make changes for the life YOU envision for yourself no matter who says you can’t. If anyone ever did anything you want to, then you know you can too!

If it’s fear that’s holding you back, it’s really quite simple. Not easy, but simple. Do YOU want the outcome fear provides, or do you want the outcome your heart desires? If it’s the latter then make changes in your life to match that vision and go get what YOU deserve. πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Choices

I believe we all live in a reality that we manifest from the choices we take each and every day.

I hear “you’re so lucky” and “it must be nice” all the time. From friends, family, and strangers.

What is luck and what must be nice? The hard work over the years and opportunities that hard work has led me to? Is that what luck is and what must be nice?

The reason I combine these two together is because they are both manifestations of the work and opportunities no one seems to look at or remember that yield results in which people say “you’re lucky” or “that must be nice”. They dismiss all the sacrifice, pain, blood, sweat, and tears that go into living a life fully on your terms.

The reality of these statements are that they come from a place of either regret or disbelief in ones self to live a life they desire, which typically yields these kinds of statements directed towards those leading a life they desire because of the non-stop action they’ve taken.

I know because I was once that person saying “that must be nice” or “they’re so lucky”.

I believe we all are capable of the life we desire, it just comes down to CHOICES.

What choices are you taking, or not taking, for the life you say you want? πŸ€”πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

I’m Always On Vacation

“A-a-aye, I’m on vacation

Every single day ’cause I love my occupation.” – @dirtyheads

Truly grateful to lead a life earning an income doing exactly what I want- just being me πŸ’―

I took a risk at the young age of 17 to pursue a path rarely taken in today’s society.

Little did I know that path would encounter brain tumors, depression, living out of my car, living in closets and on couches, blowing out my knee, seeing the world, being on tv, being in GQ and PEOPLE, making friends with my childhood hero Dave Mirra, helping others around the world, and so much more for just being me and risking everything for a dream that I believed in.

It’ll never get old and i’ll keep saying it until the day I’m not able to anymore- life is all about perspective and choices.

YOU make the choices that determines your reality and your future. YOU. No one else. Stop making excuses for why YOU can’t or hiding behind excuses to play small in life. It’s all bullshit.

Get rid of the excuses, get rid of the negative people in your life that doubt you, and gain clarity on what it is you want and make it happen.

You can fail at anything in this world so you may as well take a risk at manifesting the life you deserve. πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Clear Vision

Is your life VISION clear? πŸ€”

Only when our VISION is clear can we move forward, leave the “victim” mentality behind, and manifest true success in our lives.

Having a clear VISION and PURPOSE for that VISION also allows us to know our TRUE VALUE and makes it easier to stick to always being our true selves and attract like-minded people and experiences that align with our VISION into our lives.

I’m grateful to have found my life VISION at a young age and to know my TRUE VALUE. πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Impatience & Goals

I have come to learn that impatience comes as a byproduct of expectation.

Patience has always been a work in progress for me. Lately, understanding the expectation to patience relationship has helped me realize patience is within me, within all of us, and just needs to be practiced more often.

We are presented with opportunities to practice patience each day and it’s a choice to do so. Becoming conscious of our ability to become patient at any given moment is so freeing and rewarding.Β πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Welcome

“All are welcome to Raleigh, NC”

All are welcome to my life journey as a BMX athlete fighting 4 brain tumors.

Hi, my name is Josh Perry! I share my journey as a BMX athlete, brain tumor survivor & fighter, holistic health coach, and public speaker.

My mission is to empower and inspire people ready for change to take ownership of their choices and realities, leave behind physical and mental pain, and transform themselves into the change they want to see in the world so they can have more confidence, sustainable energy, clarity within their life, and attract more success.

I use my passion, perspectives, experiences, and expertise to help others become the healthiest, happiest, and best versions of themselves. πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Always True

I’ve been fortunate to have not had a 9-5 in over a decade, right out of high school to be exact.

My journey began mowing lawns and learning the business to start my own one day. At the same time, I was making a name for myself in the BMX world as I won local and regional competitions. The desire inside of me to pursue a childhood dream grew more and more, and the reality of that life started to feel deeper and deeper.

An ultimatum from my landscaping boss to pick between a life changing contest or his business is what did it for me.

I made a decision to take a leap of faith for something I knew deep down would fulfill me and lead to an extraordinary life.

Little did I know what journey that decision to jump for my dreams would take me on. That decision showed me the world, saved my life in more than one way (biggest was was revealing a brain tumor after a bad crash one day), and led me to the lifestyle I lead today.

That decision showed me more about myself than I ever fathomed learning, led me to new passions, showed me my core values to help serve others, and developed my personality and mindset I share with all of you.

The @alwaystrueco message aligns with my life mission and I’m grateful to have their support. I’ve reflected back to every moment of my life with input from my family to see that I’ve always stayed true to my heart’s desires and taken action to manifest those desires into my reality without loosing sight of who I am. πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

“Keto”

Repost from @ketogeniccom πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

They say keto is just a fad.

They say keto is dangerous.

They say keto isn’t good for athletes.

They say a lot, as I’ve mentioned before, but rarely do they say things backed by personal experience or proper education on the topic.

Now, I’m not saying I know everything there is to know about ketosis because that’s impossible and even the leading researchers agree. I’m saying that aketo lifestyle patterns (diet, fitness, and mindset) is extremely beneficial for most of our healths, even life saving to some.

When you hear about people trying keto and either faking off the wagon or saying “it didn’t work for me”, it’s typically because they didn’t transition properly, they didn’t fully commit and track their intake, they rushed the process, they chronically trained with their heart rate too high, they were in a stressful time of their life, and so many other variables.

Folllwing a high fat / low carb diet for 4-5 years now since reading @davidperlmutter book “Grain Brain”, I’ve adapted to fat for fuel very well. That said, the transition to keto had a few attempts that went well and not so well. Once I read @marksissonprimal book “The Keto Reset Diet”, I sorted out why it didn’t go so well and actually transitioned extremely well without seeing losses in my BMX training or training at @athleticlab. Even my chiropractor @919spine follows a keto lifestyle πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

I originally followed a high fat/ low carb diet for brain health and optimization, then I found out of its tumor/cancer affects and is one of the reasons the 2 new tumors I was diagnosed with in 2017 didn’t progress – without treatments or surgery. Just diet & lifestyle! πŸ’―πŸ™πŸΌ
