I Love What I Do

I love what I do, on and off my BMX bike.

There’s no better feeling then working with a client of mine to make new nutrition, fitness, mindset, and/or lifestyle choices in their lives to become happier and healthier versions of themselves.

@jciake captured this moment of a great client call this week with @mamasteg as she shared some great progress she’s been making.

I used to think that you couldn’t enjoy what you did to make a living or that you had to scrap by if you did enjoy your career.

Manifesting my BMX career dream into reality taught me that it was possible to lead a life I believe in and make a living for myself by just being myself and doing what I love.

My experiences of overcoming multiple brain tumors and other challenges in my life lead me to become passionate about helping others do the same with the tools I’ve learned along the way.

I share this because I’m passionate about what I do and part of what I do is to inspire and empower you to lead a life you believe in and move, and become the healthiest and happiest version of yourself. 💚✌️

Awareness & Appreciation

Be clear with your intention of awareness and appreciation.

This was the quote from today’s meditation.

I find my intention of awareness and appreciation are both aligned with my mission in life.

1- To ensure my actions and words match my vision, I’m becoming the best version of myself, I’m happy, healthy and fulfilled, and I’m serving others as much as I can.

2- to ensure I’m grateful for my life in every aspect, for the struggles in my past and to come, for the support and love of others, and the possibilities the future holds for myself.

3- to ensure I’m always staying true to my core self, beliefs, passions, and aspirations. 💯🙏🏼

When you focus on awareness & appreciation, what comes to mind? 💚✌️

Life Starts With Perspective

PERSPECTIVE is so important because had my perspective not shifted to becoming incredibly GRATEFUL, for even the smallest things in my life, I wouldn’t be here today sharing with all of you. 🙏🏼

Life starts with PERSPECTIVE and progresses with GRATITUDE and TAKING ACTION.

If it’s fear that’s holding you back from DOING, it’s quite simple. Do you want the outcome that fear provides, or do you want the outcome your heart desires.

If it’s the latter, focus on GRATITUDE for your life and taking not stop ACTION for the vision you’ve created for yourself.

Fear is just an emotional response to thoughts we either create ourself or thoughts influenced by outside suggestions.

If you feel fear or any other negative/unwanted emotion, change your thoughts and focus. 💚✌️

Searching For What Is No Longer

What do you continue to guard or protect yourself from that’s no longer in your life?

Today, my life is amazing and I’m 100% grateful and full of love for my past and all the opportunity my future holds.

Even so, I find myself subconsciously going back to a sense of “survival mode” when it’s no longer needed and I can let it go.

WHY?

I believe it’s because a majority of my life has been spent protecting myself from some sort of negativity.

The better part of my childhood and early teens I was physically, mentally, and verbally abused by someone my mom married, along with her and my little brother. Later on, my mom battled colon cancer. And, I’d say about 1/3 of my life I unknowingly flight brain tumors.

I don’t share this for sympathy.

I share this to point out the patterns I’ve recognized that my subconscious falls into with worry, fear, street, doubt, and/or protection from changes when my life is great, my brian is just programmed from 2 decades or more of being in survival mode.

The silver lining here is that even if you can’t pinpoint your cause of survival mode, you can choose to rewrite your life and make an important choice today to take action and create the life you want.

The choice is yours- to live in fear or to live life on your terms.

Which will you choose? 💚✌️

Happy Fathers Day

You bought me my first BMX bike but little did you know the impact that purchase would have on my life and lives of others around the world.

You didn’t think that bike would lead me to seeing the world and being paid to be myself. You didn’t see that bike leading me down an extraordinary path that would save my life and inspire & empower others around the world.

You supported my dreams every step of the way even if you were afraid for my taking the risks or not stoked of the wear and tear lugging my bike around had on you car. You gave me freedom yet taught me responsibility and how to be a man and own my choices.

You taught me the value of hard work and being the best I could be in all aspects of life.

You led by example and I picked up on your personality and how you treated others and how they treated you, and I always wanted to be like you. You gave me an opportunity to become who I wanted to be and make my dreams come true. You gave me freedom and the ability to create a life I dreamed of.

You fostered a great relationship with my mother, which is the reason I tired out how I did.

I know you always say you’re proud of me, but I’ll never stop striving to be the best I can and make you as proud of possible. I love you, dad! ❤️💚✌️

My Keto Coffee

Some days I fast, some days I have a super brain fueled “keto” coffee, other days I just have a “fat” coffee.

These are some of my go-to’s for when I’m having a keto coffee in the morning:

👉🏼 @kerrygoldusa unsalted grass-fed butter

👉🏼 @wildfoodsco 🍄 either Lions Mane or Reishi (code: WildJosh12)

👉🏼 @gardenoflife MCT Oil (code: ambassador20)

👉🏼 @perfectketones Keto Nootropic (code: JoshPerry)

👉🏼 @drjoshaxe Collagen protein

Then I blend em all up and pour into my @coffeencreate travel mug (code: JoshPerry15) and head to the gym or office. 💚✌️

BMX For Over Half My Life

Crazy I’ve been riding BMX for more than half my life.

I got my first BMX bike for Christmas when I was 13 and was so stoked!

My bike has shown me the world.

It’s saved my life in more than 1 way. The most significant way was from what most would see as negative, but a crash resulting in a head injury found a brain tumor that was slowly killing me.

It’s shown me who I am and strive to become.

It’s shown me my strength and given me a voice in the world.

It’s given me so many wonderful people and experiences.

It’s led me to new passions I’ve turned into a business.

It’s led me to helping inspire and empower others to live their lives to the fullest.

Nothing but love and gratitude for BMX. 💚✌️

Funny How Life Unfolds

I always hear “I’m so sorry” or “that’s got to be the worst thing to happen to you” in regards to me living with 4 brain tumors or the first of 3 diagnosis.

I don’t see it any way other than a choice.

A choice to see it as “good” or “bad”.

A choice to see life “happening for me” or life “happening to me”.

It’s all about perspective.

My perspective- shit could be way worse, gratitude to be alive, and gratitude for an eye opening event that could have resulted in my death but it didn’t.

It led me on a path of self-awareness, bringing others value, and improving my quality of life.

I could have died from pain pills masking the cause of my suffering, but I fell and hit my head, which found the cause of my pain and suffering. A massive tumor!

BMX literally saved my life because has I not fallen that day, who knows if I’d be here today.

I wouldn’t have it any other way. 💚✌️

Push Yourself

Push yourself everyday.

Whether it’s physically or mentally, it’s always worth pushing forward in life.

The temporary stress yields strength in the long run. Muscles get stronger from temporary stress, just as the mind does.

It’s not to be confused with negative chronic stress, which is detrimental because there’s no light at the end of the tunnel or goal. 💚✌️

Regrets & Fear

One of my top sources of fuel for my life and goals is to never live with REGRET.

FEAR is the other component but I’ve realized FEAR will always show up in our lives, especially when we change paths.

What’s cool about FEAR is that we can choose how big of a role it plays in our lives. REGRET, on the other hand, is harder to work with since it’s a past experience that can’t be undone.

That said, we can shift our focus and move forward with PERSPECTIVE, GRATITUDE, and LOVE while learning from our past rather than living in REGRET. 💚✌️
