Build Your Tribe

Stoked to have these people apart of my tribe.

Collaborating with @ryanplowery and @doc_amen to do some 🧠 research and how exogenous ketones impact our brains via some SPECT scans/images. We both will be sharing more via our blogs on our YouTube channels (link is in my bio) as well as our social media outlets and @ketogeniccom.

I’m collaborating with @isaacstegman @marywengh and @kaizenprocoaching to bring the world of keto to high performing executives and business owners so they can perform better in all area of life.

Isaac and I are getting ready to launch an app with his business course and I’m bringing my 12-week video course to his platform to be able to share with all of you that are interested in adopting a ketogenic lifestyle whether you’re looking to improve your brain’s health and/or performance, increase energy, drop some extra body fat, improve inflammatory issues, and so on.

I’m incredibly grateful for these people having my back and to be reciprocating value at the same time.

Look out for updates on @ryanplowery and my trip to do SPECT imaging our brains and the release of my keto course on the @kaizenprocoaching platform.

“Carbs” Are Not The Enemy

Let me explain what I mean by “carbs are not the enemy”. First, most people don’t know the difference between a carbohydrate. There are starches, grain, legumes, fruits/sugar, and non starchy vegetables. Even fiber is considered a carbohydrate. By nature, any plant food is considered a carbohydrate.

A ketogenic diet isn’t a diet free from all carbohydrates, just the starches, grains, legumes and sugars, which even that lacks important context depending on the individual, their lifestyle, their bio-individuality, and so on.

To keep this simple, the above images are carbohydrates that are mostly keto-friendly. Even this lacks context of amounts, timing, etc. tho!

Now, the bottom section is those that are for not keto-friendly for most people and times on their keto journey but even this still requires context in the conversation.

I believe that in order to be successful when beginning your keto journey, you wanna avoid the bottom examples as well as all starches, sugars, grains, and even alcohol.

Aim for non starchy, high fibrous veggies and of course, lots of healthy fats and quality protein sources.

Celtics 3-29-19

Another dream of mine come true. To take dad to a Celtics game at the TD garden in Boston after flying in unexpectedly. Even got to bring Brandon Christie as an early birthday present. 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Heading back home to NC for a few days before another incredible trip. This next trip coming up after being home for a few days is to be apart of some amazing research of the 🧠 then to speak at FitCon in SLC.

Keto Made Easy

Often times, we all over complicate things in life that can be approached with a simple and clear perspective.

This is true for nutrition. Despite what most media, influencers, etc. say, keto isn’t hard, it’s sustainable, it’s enjoyable, and it’s not depriving when you have the right education, awareness, and support.

It’s all context and most for he time the reason say “keto doesn’t work” or “keto sucks” it due to a few things: lack of understanding fat adaptation timelines, lack of electrolytes, not enough fat, too many carbs/“net carbs”, too much stress, not enough sleep, and other areas of individualized context.

Here, we have eggs topped with a little parmesan, sautéed broccoli with grass fed butter, and chopped up bacon. All topped with some @redmondrealsalt and spices.

Keto is a tool or a lifestyle. It’s a CHOICE to consume certain foods. Some foods hurt us and some help us. At the end of the day, if keto helps with one thing beyond your health it has to be the consciousness to what certain foods do to our brains and overall health.

Be PROACTIVE rather than REACTIVE when it comes to your life. Keto is just one of the many passions I share that have helped me in my life tremendously.

No excuses.

What’s your excuse for why you can’t eat well or why keto “doesn’t work” for you and how can I help?

BMX & A Suit

Be YOU and forget the hate that comes from others insecurities to be themselves.

Since I was a little kid, I’ve always loved dressing apart. This is a leftover photo from a shoot @jciake and I did for @hartter.manly.

We were going for a new approach to combine fashion, business and BMX now that I’m a business owner, speaker, and soon to be author.

I wanted to combine all aspects of my life and interests in one image capturing many stories in one.

Are you living the life you envision for yourself and being YOU?

3-26-19

Seems like I ride every 2 weeks on the day before a trip lately. 😂

I ride last night after 2 weeks of not riding and realized I have been riding a day or two every 2 weeks or so.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BveNJvph9PL/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=10jr9xjjt87o

Still got it and feel solid even tho I’ve ridden about 5 days in the last 3 months.

Years prior of countless hours riding and perfecting my craft is ingrained in my blood. The passion to ride my bike still fuels me but is a bit on the back burner as I follow my new passion and purpose.

Don’t worry, I’m not done riding. I’ve just been working on new passions and businesses I’ve created. Kind of crazy to think what I’m doing today all stemmed from my BMX dream.

What BMX taught me translates to all areas of life. I’m on a mission to share it with the world and let others know that if a broke kid with nothing but a dream can go from living in a closet to running his own business changing lives, then we can all succeed at what we put our minds to and believe we can accomplish.

Our minds are all that stand in our way.

Walk Your Talk

Do you walk your talk?

https://www.instagram.com/tv/BvW2FACBBHW/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1em42mp9wl9xj

That’s a make it out break it for me in who I choose to listen to in terms of advice and information.

I’ve been given a hard time for my choices in diet and exercise over the years and 9 times out of 10 the person on the other end clearly doesn’t walk their talk.

That speaks volume to me and I suggest you all audit who you take advice from because in my experience, I’ve been told “keto isn’t good for your Heath” from overweight people who consume crap food. I’ve been told “you’re healthy and your headaches are “normal” and just take these pain pills”, which almost killed me had I not fallen riding one day and discovered the brain tumor.

I’m not speaking ill of others what so ever. I’m clearly sharing my perspective on who I suggest you seek out help from. It’s sad to see so many people in the medical field that don’t care of their health but I’m glad to collab with those who do!

2 Years For Jackie & I

2 years with this woman and they have all been amazing!

Starting out in very weird places in our lives, we met as athletic trainer (@jciake) and BMX athlete (me😜).

We were both in and out of relationships the first year we knew each other but bonded over months of Jackie helping me with my ACL rehab.

We became closer as time went on and we both left the relationships we were in and had overcome some pretty intense obstacles in our lives.

Ironically, we started dating after Jackie took a job in Florida after her position at the bike park was no longer able to be funded.

Monthly flights to and from NC or FL were implemented and the time spent together was always amazing. Less than a year of dating and we moved Jackie back up to NC and in with me.

Over a year of living together and we have shared some amazing up’s and down’s but have always shared an immense amount of respect and love for one another.

I’ve never had someone challenge me, support me, love me, have fun with me, travel with me, be creative with me, adventure with me, share with me, and appreciate me for being me as much as Jackie has and I am beyond grateful for my life choices leading her into my life.

Here’s to you being the best, the memories yet to create, and all the love and abundance we have to share as the days go on.

I’m beyond thankful for Jackie in my life and I wouldn’t be who I am today or where I am today without her.

Past vs Present Stories

Sometimes I reflect on my past experiences and even tho they are real, I lived them, and I have photos/videos documenting those experiences, they sometimes seem fake.

https://www.instagram.com/tv/BvRRRnPBomp/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=bigvvh7mjev3

If we can feel that way about something factual that we experienced, what if we could focus our attention on the future and our desired outcomes/goals and feel that experience today in the now?

I’ve been focusing on gratitude a lot lately and not just for the good in my life today, but the past “good” & “bad” as well as the future not yet manifested.

It’s done wonders for me and it’s also super beneficial to start my day with gratitude journaling.

Become Your Own Hero

“The internal journey is all about the death of our identity, and the rebirth of our essence.”

Standing next to these beautiful, talented, strong, courageous, and loving human beings is the manifestation of all of our choices along our very unique, individualized, yet similar paths in life.

We have all become the hero of our own journeys and made massive transformation leading us to health, happiness, and success in our lives.

What’s rad, and none of us set out solely to do, is that we’re all in a place of service to others fueled by love and passion.

We’ve taken our “mess” along the way and turned it into our messages, our missions, and our new purpose within our lives.

The power of all 3 of our stories is profound. The desire to share our stories in an effort to change perspective in others so they can take new action within their life is even greater.

I’m beyond grateful to have connected and formed meaningful relationships with these two and am excited about the future holds for all of us and YOU reading this.

Don’t ever stop doing what YOU love for anyone else and don’t ever love YOUR life for anyone either. We’ve all fallen into the safety net that is the “traditional route” brainwashed that it’s “safe” or our of fear of failure and/or judgement.

I’ve found that by staying true to my own desire, dreams, and beliefs for my life has led me to some wonderful people and places around the world and now I’m doing what I thought was the impossible and helping others along the way.

Stay true to YOU and take accountability for your life.

If you’re unhappy, make a CHANGE. The 3 of us sure have and continue to do so and so can YOU.
