Potassium

Bananas are not the only food with potassium. In fact, these foods pictured come without detrimental sugar and have quality amounts of potassium.

Bananas are full of sugar and lead to increased levels of insulin, which leads to fat storage, inflammation, hormonal imbalances, cravings, hunger, digestive complications, and more.

I used to start my day with a big banana in my protein smoothies and would experience a lot of the above mentioned issues. Once I switched the banana for an avocado, and/or practiced intermittent fasting, my body started to lean out more, I gained more sustained energy, digestion cleared up, focus increased, recovery improved, and cravings are no longer. πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

When people are lowering their carbs and going into KETO, potassium is a critical nutrient to intake to keep from “keto flu”, basically feeling like garbage for a few days until you adapt to KETO.

These foods are a staple for me and should be closely considered if not fully adapted and loved while going KETO.

Thanks @ryanplowery for sharing this! πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Emotionally Drained

Feeling emotionally drained and mentally confused these last few weeks with the loss of my younger brother.

It’s still a work in progress but I feel guilty to enjoy my life with my little brother no longer in my life. I’ve never felt such a pain and love at the same time in my life and it’s left me confused on so many levels.

As always, BMX is always key for me to clear my mind and just focus on what’s in front of me. I’ve been surprisingly riding very well after 2 weeks off and going through the emotions of loosing my little bro.

It’s been a blessing in disguise to have @jakaremec and his father stay with me for the month, all the way from Slovenia for me to coach Jaka. We have even coaching via skype for months and this trip has been planned for a while now.

They were to arrive 6 days after my brother passed and I almost told them to not come. I’m glad I didn’t because I honestly feel as if I wouldn’t leave my bedroom, especially since @jciake I’d gone on a trip, who’s been my rock through all this and more in the past.

Danny (my little brother) was always so stoked to see me ride and was so proud of what I was able to do. His favorite trick was truck drivers, simple and classic. I know he wouldn’t want me to stop doing things I enjoy and waste my life I’m so fortunate to have, so I’m doing my best to stay moving forward.

I’ve been sharing all I’ve been learning about nutrition & keto, mindset, BMX, and fitness with Jaka and his father Alex and the results are astounding.

It’s an honor to share my life experiences and passions with others, especially the younger generations and even more dear to my heart, young BMX riders.

Thanks to everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and love for my brother. πŸ™πŸΌβ€οΈπŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Nutritious Meal Example

Want to burn fat, protect your brain, gain more energy, or regain your focus?

It’s quite simple- eat real food that’s high in fat, nutrition, and comes with fiber.

Cut out the sugars, processed foods, alcohol, cheap vegetable oils, and high amounts of carbs until you’ve reached a place that you’re happy with and can target carb consumption for your daily needs and schedule.

Here is an example of an easy nutritious meal: Chicken leg with bone in (for added nutrient intake and collagen consumption), zucchini sautΓ©ed in grass-fed butter with spices, and a side of kraut for a healthy gut bacteria balance.

I normally add more fat to my meals in the form of avocado, olive oil, @primalkitchenfoods dressing, @chosenfoods mayo, @gardenoflife MCT oil, or some nuts (walnuts, almonds, macadamia) but I had a high fat coffee for breakfast before this meal so I balanced it out with less fat in this meal. πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

You’re Worth It

“Whoever said “you ain’t worth it”, ain’t worth it. You here for a purpose and your purpose ain’t a person.” @rowlan πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Always stay true to your inner being and dismiss any negative influences that comes you way. If you can’t, reach out to someone that will have your back and support you.

Life’s too short to worry about anyone’s opinions other than those who love and support you with their entire being. I also have faith that these people would never turn you away so don’t ever feel like you’re alone.

No one fights alone even if you feel alone in this world. I guarantee that if you’re reading this, someone loves you because I love each and everyone of you. πŸ’―πŸ™πŸΌβ€οΈ

Gamma Knife & Keto

I was supposed to post this last week but some reality shifting events have taken place and I’ve been feeling paralyzed in how to move forward with anything in life.

My WHY, or my purpose, in life is really clear to me and now it’s magnified and has helped me cope with loosing my younger brother last week and not letting him down.

This post is to share a quick look into my journey with Gamma Knife radio treatment to treat the first 2 tumors I live with today and how 2 additional tumors in my skull led me to KETO.

WHY?

I had to research for a while to find an alternative to the path I was on and create a new outcome for my life. I’m glad I fought for what my intuition was telling me because I found Gamma Knife and a way of eating that’s changed my life in so many ways. It’s what I’m passionate about today and I plan to let the world know what I know.

It also brings to mind that no matter what you’re going through, you’re not alone. Don’t feel embarrassed, angry, alone, or afraid to reach out to chat with someone about what you’re dealing with.

Whether it’s physical or mental, I’ll always do my best to support others as much as I can and there’s plenty more people to talk with. Don’t ever feel so isolated that you think you’re alone and can’t gain support from family, friends, or even a stranger like myself. πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Broken

Growing up, all I wanted to do was ride BMX. My brother even rode for a little bit.

BMX was my escape from pain and has been many times over.

The pain I feel right now after loosing my little brother to a tragic and stupid accident that could have been prevented makes me question doing anything in life right now, including BMX.

I’ve never felt such a pain before. I don’t even think I understood how much I loved my little brother until the moment I found out his life was gone.

Danny and I always joked about future dreams and plans together to help one another, and others. It’s always been a huge passion of ours to help others.

Danny has a heart of gold and would do anything he could for his family and friends. He didn’t care what you thought of him and always owned his personality and words. You could never take that away from him.

This photo is pretty heavy for me because it shows me in an environment that Danny and I grew up in and he loved so much. It shows a part of me (BMX) that gave me so much opportunity in my life to help others that we never fathomed becoming a reality.

I know Danny was always proud of me and to be my little brother. I am so proud to be his brother and all he times we shared. I’m proud of all that he has been through in his life and to have become the man we all know and love despite the hell he’s been through.

I’m grateful to know Danny touched so many people, that I had the chance to hug him and say “I love you, bro” the last time I saw him, that I got to take him to a Bruins game as an early birthday present, that we spoke recently and got to exchange “I love you” once more, and I’m grateful that I got to see him one last time on Friday to say goodbye and let him know how much I love him. ❀️❀️

This has me questioning so many of my beliefs and actions. I feel numb yet in so much pain. I just feel broken inside and can’t even fathom doing anything I love.

I just hope you all take an opportunity to let the people you love know it and that you’re grateful for them. πŸ™πŸΌπŸ’šβœŒοΈ

You Are Gone Way Too Early, Bro

I still am at a loss for words knowing my little brother is no longer with us on this earth.

A lot of emotions are coming in and out but love and gratitude for the good times we had over the last 26 years are taking priority even with how painful it is.

I am beyond grateful to have documented a quick moment in time in October with my best friend and little bro and to be able to share it with all our friends and family.

I will always love you so much, brother. We’ve had each others back from day one and I have always wanted to make you and mom proud and do what I can to take care of you.

I will forever cherish this time, along with surprising you to a bruins game and that final big bear hug you gave me as we exchanged “I love you’s” while dropping you off at the airport recently.

I will continue to work my ass off for you and whatever I do I will be taking you with me.

Love you, Danny! So much. I love you with every bit of my being and always have and always will. RIP, little bro. I miss you already. β€οΈπŸ’š

I Love What I Do

I love what I do, on and off my BMX bike.

There’s no better feeling then working with a client of mine to make new nutrition, fitness, mindset, and/or lifestyle choices in their lives to become happier and healthier versions of themselves.

@jciake captured this moment of a great client call this week with @mamasteg as she shared some great progress she’s been making.

I used to think that you couldn’t enjoy what you did to make a living or that you had to scrap by if you did enjoy your career.

Manifesting my BMX career dream into reality taught me that it was possible to lead a life I believe in and make a living for myself by just being myself and doing what I love.

My experiences of overcoming multiple brain tumors and other challenges in my life lead me to become passionate about helping others do the same with the tools I’ve learned along the way.

I share this because I’m passionate about what I do and part of what I do is to inspire and empower you to lead a life you believe in and move, and become the healthiest and happiest version of yourself. πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Awareness & Appreciation

Be clear with your intention of awareness and appreciation.

This was the quote from today’s meditation.

I find my intention of awareness and appreciation are both aligned with my mission in life.

1- To ensure my actions and words match my vision, I’m becoming the best version of myself, I’m happy, healthy and fulfilled, and I’m serving others as much as I can.

2- to ensure I’m grateful for my life in every aspect, for the struggles in my past and to come, for the support and love of others, and the possibilities the future holds for myself.

3- to ensure I’m always staying true to my core self, beliefs, passions, and aspirations. πŸ’―πŸ™πŸΌ

When you focus on awareness & appreciation, what comes to mind? πŸ’šβœŒοΈ

Life Starts With Perspective

PERSPECTIVE is so important because had my perspective not shifted to becoming incredibly GRATEFUL, for even the smallest things in my life, I wouldn’t be here today sharing with all of you. πŸ™πŸΌ

Life starts with PERSPECTIVE and progresses with GRATITUDE and TAKING ACTION.

If it’s fear that’s holding you back from DOING, it’s quite simple. Do you want the outcome that fear provides, or do you want the outcome your heart desires.

If it’s the latter, focus on GRATITUDE for your life and taking not stop ACTION for the vision you’ve created for yourself.

Fear is just an emotional response to thoughts we either create ourself or thoughts influenced by outside suggestions.

If you feel fear or any other negative/unwanted emotion, change your thoughts and focus. πŸ’šβœŒοΈ
