We NEED Adversity

I would complain about things in my life, let alone what was outside of my immediate and selfish perspective that I would then complain about.

I lived my life fueled by anger, spite, and on a mission to prove abusive people in my life wrong.

After many wake up calls (3 brain tumor diagnosis, my main bike sponsor dropping me out of the blue mid ACL recovery, multiple TBI’s, debt, etc.) I decided to stop making excuses for why I couldn’t do or have something I desired.

I then took accountability for my life and started making small shifts that led to massive changes.

I sacrificed what I had left after my sponsor giving me the boot and set myself on a path fueled by gratitude and love with a very clear reason as to WHY I was doing what I was doing.

That why was PURPOSE.

A purpose to help others reach their full potential with health, happiness, and success, without the suffering we choose upon ourselves.

The reality is, we all face some sort of shit in our lives.

Perspective is essential, tho!

It could always be worse.

Anyone reading this, especially from a smart phone, is winning.

The belief we choose about our life and limitations dictates our reality and we become a slave to external sources when we’re all incredibly capable of manifesting a life we belief we deserve.

What do YOU believe is the life YOU deserve and what are you willing to do for it?

Gratitude = Manifestation

Are you grateful for what’s not yet manifested in your life? Not just what you have now, but what you desire in the future.

A desire sets the plan but gratitude, the belief it’s possible, and non stop action is what manifests a desire into reality.

Something I’ve been more conscious to is the feeling of gratitude for moments I visualize in my future.

@the.holistic.psychologist and @drjoedispenza talk a lot about this and how if we’re able to visualize our future self where we want to be, doing what we are working for and really feeling that emotion, we can change our current state of emotion and plant that “seed” into our subconscious mind.

The power of this is truly remarkable. Try it!

1) Think of a goal you’re working on.

2) Visualize that moment in the future and how it really feels to be living that reality.

3) Write that scenario down and revisit this exercise and compare the feelings you write down, and anything else that comes to mind that can paint a vivid moment of that time.

4) Take it a step further and add some affirmations around manifesting that moment. The book “think & grow rich” chapters 1-5 have a detailed plan of how to take all of this and create a morning ritual/routine that I call my “morning manifesto” that takes you closer and closer to your goal(s) each day as you change your state of consciousness to one of gratitude.

After waking up, brushing my teeth, and going to the bathroom, I read my morning manifesto out loud to myself to start each of my days.

The subconscious programming that comes from this allows us to “prime” our minds for the day to exactly what we want to focus on rather than outside sources.

There may be a lot of resistance the first days trying this but stick to it until is just a part of your morning routine.

The difference in how you think & feel can be night and day. This leads to new and consistent actions.

Let me know what you think and if you’ve experienced gratitude for the now and what’s to come.

Financial Stories

This trip meant the world to me to have documented.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bwwnbdmho93/?igshid=4kisibv1ee62

In the past, I would make decisions by the short term gain vs loss.

I used to be crippled to the lack of money I had and my choices would be dictated by the fear of “not having enough”. That meant I missed out on seeing a lot of my family and friends a lot of the time because although I was laser focused on my BMX career, and successful, I wasn’t making much more money than my basic needs.

I’ve learned that was a simple perspective piece based on past subconscious programming that manifested this past relationship with money.

Today, I’ve thrown out the mentality of being limited by what’s in my bank account, not being to manifest more than “average”, and have swapped it out for the belief we live based on the limits we believe in for ourselves.

I’ve taken massive risks over the years, gone all in on what I believe in today, and made choices based on what’s best for my long game and my soul.

Taking the money I have after basic living needs is usually saved up to reinvest back in my business.

This time, I wanted to use that money for the people I love, now that my belief system is one of love, health, happiness, success, and abundance.

It’s always been a dream of mine to fly in with no notice to surprise my family and best friend (Brandon) and take Brandon and my dad to a Celtics game.

I was able to do that a few weeks ago and it was a byproduct of my belief and hard work for the life I envision.

Nothing more.

Our Eyes Are Projectors

“Our eyes are not only viewers, they’re projectors.” -Jim Carrey

I love Jim and have always been a fan of him since I was a kid.

His statement is so true and anyone that’s accomplish a goal, no matter how big or small, can confirm this.

Why?

Because, it took some level of focus and visualization to make that goal manifest into your reality.

It can be clearer for making dreams come true, or things beyond what we ever fathomed becoming our reality, as I have during my BMX career.

All I did was think about BMX, dream BMX, watch BMX contest and videos, talk about BMX, and TAKE ACTION on my BMX bike.

Not only was the emotional and psychological aspect of manifesting a goal or dream there, I also took non stop action every single day possible.

We can create the realities we want or don’t want. It all comes back to what we see in our minds.

All the greatest in sports focus on visualizing their actions, especially when it comes time to compete and test all the “homework” done at home when no ones watching.

Think back to any “good” or “bad” experience in your life and really audit your mindset, actions, beliefs, words spoken, and how it resulted. Was it aligned with those mindsets, actions, beliefs, and words spoken, even if it wasn’t the desired result?

If it’s a yes, then think of how you could spin it for what you want.

My biggest problem along my journey with manifestation the life I desired was the patience piece and I find that’s way more prevalent in today’s society with everything being so instant.

It won’t happen over night but you’ll be surprised how quickly changes are made in your life when you audit and change your mindset, words, and actions.

It’s All Perspective

Perspective is essential to life. “Life is 10% of what happened to us and 90% of how we respond.” “Life doesn’t happen to us, life happens for us.” Both quotes come from different people but underline the same choice & that’s a choice in perspective that we have every single day, no matter what. We all face this choice with every part of our lives.

This choice can not be taken from us unless we decided to give it up.

We can choose how we decide to see the world, see our lives & we see the events that place one way over another, good or bad, with the simple act of thought.

Glass half full over glass half empty. “Failure” over an opportunity to learn and grow.

It’s all perspective.

Now, I could have given up on more than 2 handful of occasions but good would that have done for me & my vision for my life?

It wouldn’t have done any good & would have actually put me further back from reaching my goals & potential to help others.

I also can’t stress enough how gratitude fuels the shift in perspective & leads to abundance.

When I was faced with a death sentence at the pinnacle of my dream BMX career & just turned 21, I first went to fear, worry, & what I call “victimville” but my family, the BMX community, learning of @lancearmstrong, & my own desire to live my life on my own terms wouldn’t allow that choice in fear.

My perspective quickly shifted to that of gratitude to still be alive, have the love & support of many around the world, & most importantly, a chance to fight to make my tomorrow better & continue living my life.

I often hear friends, family, & strangers complaining of how “hard” life is, how much life “sucks”, or “it must be nice” when in reality, every single person that is conscious & breathing has something to be grateful for.

I challenge you all to focus on just ONE thing you’re grateful for each day & really feel it deep down. That emotional state you find yourself in can change you life as it’s changed mine.

Slap Of Reality

Today wasn’t easy. Not gonna lie.

My mom & I drove to the police station that held my younger brother, Danny, belongings for nearly 10 months after he took his life a week after turning 26 last June.

Upon opening the container of his personal belongings, I was greeted with his phone covered in his own blood.

Although I thought I was prepared for this moment, I wasn’t. It was another slap in the face of reality that my little brother is no longer here with my mom & I. What’s worse, I can’t do anything about it. Of all the years growing up protecting my best friend, I wasn’t able to this time.

I have a ton of thoughts of regret for being so hard on him over the years as others just enabled him & allowed him to play small in life. I battle against those thoughts with my belief that I was doing what I felt was right in challenging him to live up to his potential from a place of sincere love.

I often get asked “how are you always so positive”?

I’m not. But, I also know that the mind is like any muscle in the body & daily practice, exercise, & recovery are required to ensure we have a chance at becoming what we desire.

I’m human & experience all the ups & downs that we all face but my perspective to be alive and have a chance at changing my tomorrow & sharing it with all of you is what keeps me moving forward.

The people I choose to surround myself with plays a huge role in giving me the courage to be vulnerable, not give up or feel sorry for myself, & allow me to be who I set out to become.

These people in the photos have become brothers from other mothers to me & I’m incredibly grateful for all of them & Jackie

Danny & I both cherished our friends equally as much as we cherish each other. We don’t believe family is solely blood related.

I want you to share your love for those you care about & know your life is what you choose to make it.

Inside & out.

Always strive for happiness but don’t ever think you have to be happy every day or that your broken.

Purpose Driven

Being diagnosed 3 times with 5 total tumors, among other obstacles like blowing out my knee after treatment, living out of my car for a few months, overcoming depression, being abused most my childhood by a drunken step-father, breaking ribs after my third diagnosis, and flat lining on the bottom of a contest course all has led me down a deep path of self-exploration and auditing who I was, the choices I was making, and ultimately who I wanted to become.

I’d tell you were crazy had you told me what I would accomplish today, the parts of the world I’d see, and who I’d become when I was 17, just dropped out of high school, and left home in pursuit of a dream to become a professional BMX athlete. But, looking back on the last 12 years of my life makes sense as to why I was able to do so. It all stemmed from a vision I had created for my life and the tenacity to not give up.

I believe we all have the same choice in our lives and that’s our perspective, which no one can take from us. It’s a choice we are faced with on a daily basis. It’s not always easy but it’s worth putting the effort in to become aware of our thoughts and focus on improving them. I could have very easily chosen the perspective of a victim and had given up on more than a handful of occasions and no one would have ever batted an eye.

But, for what purpose?

How would that help me?

It wouldn’t and thankfully my vision wouldn’t allow that choice as these experiences have given me clarity with my purpose to SERVE others🙏🏼

We all have the same choice in life….our PERSPECTIVE and the vision we create for ourselves.

I’m just a kid from Cape Cod with no money, no upper hand, and a lot of odds stacked against me.

I could have chosen a path of fear disguised by practicality but I chose a path dictated by my vision even though others said it wasn’t possible.

If I can succeed, so can you!

Tagged are the people who inspire me daily🔥🙌🏼

Don’t Chase Keto Numbers

Don’t go chasing numbers while on KETO.

Why?

Although it’s a great tool in the beginning, it doesn’t always contain all the needed context required to assess progress with the goal of solely being in KETOSIS.

I track numbers (Ketones, Glucose & Macros) from time to time now that I’ve been on this path for some time. I use @ketomojo to check my levels and @cronometer_official for my macros when I do track. It’s a great tool but not the only tool to measure success.

Ketosis can be achieved with fasting, exogenous ketones, which I use (@perfectketones code: “JoshPerry”), MCT oil (I use @wildfoodsco code: WildJosh12), or depleting glycoen stores from high-intensity workouts.

The goal is keto-adaptation & metabolic flexibility, meaning you take the time to lower the insulin & glucose levels/stores in your body over time and you adapt to producing and utilizing ketones efficiently.

Again, there are various ways to get into ketosis but it takes time to adapt the brain and body to this alternative and superior fuel source.

Once keto-adapted and metabolically flexible, you can enjoy the benefits that keto brings with it like body composition improvements, mental clarity and energy, reduction in inflammation and oxidative stress (free radicals), liberation from hunger and cravings, improved sports performance and recovery, and reduced risk of diseases or disease/symptom management.

You can also consume sensible “smart-carbs” and amounts, once keto-adapted and gained some metabolic flexibility, at specific times of the day and it’ll help your performance, fat burning, and sometimes put you deeper into ketosis.

Again, once KETO-ADAPTED.

Don’t worry if you have lower numbers because that may mean you’re body is becoming more efficient at utilizing ketones as you build more MCT transporters to shuttle the ketones into the cells. 💚✌️

Gamma Knife & Keto

I was supposed to post this last week but some reality shifting events have taken place and I’ve been feeling paralyzed in how to move forward with anything in life.

My WHY, or my purpose, in life is really clear to me and now it’s magnified and has helped me cope with loosing my younger brother last week and not letting him down.

This post is to share a quick look into my journey with Gamma Knife radio treatment to treat the first 2 tumors I live with today and how 2 additional tumors in my skull led me to KETO.

WHY?

I had to research for a while to find an alternative to the path I was on and create a new outcome for my life. I’m glad I fought for what my intuition was telling me because I found Gamma Knife and a way of eating that’s changed my life in so many ways. It’s what I’m passionate about today and I plan to let the world know what I know.

It also brings to mind that no matter what you’re going through, you’re not alone. Don’t feel embarrassed, angry, alone, or afraid to reach out to chat with someone about what you’re dealing with.

Whether it’s physical or mental, I’ll always do my best to support others as much as I can and there’s plenty more people to talk with. Don’t ever feel so isolated that you think you’re alone and can’t gain support from family, friends, or even a stranger like myself. 💚✌️

-Josh P.

Resistance

It’s the vision that allows us to keep moving forward in life even when we don’t feel like it.

Resistance doesn’t feel good but that usually means one of two things: either you’re on the path to a new outcome and resistance is appearing because of new actions, which triggers the ego to go into “protection” mode from a unknown outcome. Or, it’s because you’re doing something you don’t believe in to fulfill someone else’s vision.

Resistance is where people usually get stuck. They either give up when they feel any resistance because they fear failure or their ego is so strong in protecting them from the unknown that they settle for suffering in the moment because it’s familiar, even though it’s undesirable.

Are you taking action to get one step closer to living your vision, and what resistance do you see show up regularly? 💚✌️
