What Are You WILLING To Do?

What are you willing to do for the things you say you “need” and “want” in your life?

Are you willing to sacrifice moments of instant gratification for the long game of sustainability?

Are you willing to put yourself in uncomfortable ale situations or moments of immense pain like I experienced in this photo?

The difference between a pro and amateur is the willingness to push past moments of physical and mental pain, fear, doubt, worry, judgment, stress and whatever else comes your way.

The future vision we create as a pro of our life’s journey is what defines us. We’re not defined by our past, who we showed up as yesterday, the times we fell down or “failed”, or the times we heard the word “no”. We are clear on our purpose behind the vision and won’t let anything stop us, no matter how far off course we find ourselves.

Pain is just information. Use the information to trouble shoot navigating forward to success.

When you find yourself comfortable, that should set off an alarm that it’s time to optimize.

Adaptations are healthy and necessary to build strength, but comfort can lead to stagnant phases in life and lead to unhappiness.

That’s what I’ve found in my life and BMX has taught me there’s always more in us to optimize our current level in area of life, if we’re willing to put the work in.

Get after it with clear, purposeful, and align intent that matches the vision you’ve created for your life.

Don’t settle for anything less and don’t let moment of pain persuade you off the path.

The Cycle

I don’t believe in one over the other. Do you?

To me, they both have biologically responses and both affect our brain and physiology.

We have a choice in what we feed our brains and body every single day and both of these choices make up who we are.

If we are not happy or content with our current status of being, we can change it. Some don’t believe that to be true and find themselves stuck where they are happy. Sometimes they get inspired to make changes but it doesn’t last due to the underlying disbelief in their efforts.

When it comes to nutritional choices, I’ve come a long way and can assure you that you can make changes to better your health, performance and overall quality of life.

When it comes to the mental side of things, I had a deep rooted belief that I was always going to be broke, I wasn’t capable of “success” outside of BMX, and that I was going to work a job when I was done riding BMX professionally because I had no value to offer the world and was destined to work a job for someone else.

Once I began learning how both the mind & body really work, my perspective shifted in profound ways. I began to empower myself with tools to take back my health and to achieve success in other areas of my life like my relationships, starting my own business, my education, the ability to spread my message and purpose to support others around the world, manifesting amazing people and experiences in my life, and the list goes on.

What we choose to consume (food/beverage) affects our physiology and our brain, which in return affects our thinking. What we choose to consume in terms of content and time with people within our lives affects our thinking, which influences the choices we make nutritionally.

As you can see, it’s a cycle that continues until we’ve become conscious of it and make a choice to optimize areas of our lives we desire to do so.

I was one of the many to commonly say “I’m fine now, so why do I need to change”. Then, when I was 21, my life flipped upside down when I was told I may die of a brain tumor.

Change starts with consciousness, or awareness, and progresses with a desire to change and optimize choices.

Bowling Came First

Before BMX it was bowling and it started 28 years ago.

My dad has been bowling for about 10 years prior to my being born and has been bringing me to the alley since whatever age this is in the photo (1-3?).

The bowling alley that we’ve always gone to opened in the 60’s and its last day was yesterday.

In honor of the memories its allowed us all to have and so many friendships formed, I flew in Saturday morning for the goodbye tournament on Sunday.

To develop an average, since it’s been 15 years since I had one from league bowling, I bowled 3 games Saturday afternoon in rented shoes and a borrowed ball that didn’t fit.

I shot a 176 average going into Sunday’s tournament. I shot a 227 game 1 and 2, 145 game 3, and a 223 game 4 giving me an average of 205 I believe and the second seed into the final 8 after my handicap was factored in.

I was bumped out by a few pins in the first head to head by an OG that was paired up with me. I did bowl a sloppy 154 that game tho, leaving a few open frames.

All in all, I had an amazing time celebrating a facility that did so much for my childhood with amazing people.

That said, I’ve now been inspired to order a ball and some shoes to get back into it now that I’m not competing in BMX anymore.

You’ll be seeing some dope video content from @createdbybrian and myself soon in my new @stormproducts ball and shoes 😎 and some training adaptations in the gym to supplement.

My forearms, shoulders and legs are sore in off places than I’m used to from BMX, haha!

Who Are You?

This quote works really well with this weeks Podcast. If you haven’t listened, check it out! The Grey Matters Podcast!

It’s ok to feel down, angry, sad, confused, lost, alone, and so on.

It’s not ok to judge others for how they respond to hardship in their lives.

We have to remember we are human and emotions come and go. It’s harder when a negative emotion arises from the death of a loved one.

When my younger brother passed last year, I was in a dark place questioning my own life. Asking myself things like “why does it matter if I live or die”? “Why should I bother doing anything anymore”? “Should I feel guilty about living my life and ever-smiling again”?

Being clear on our life vision and confident with our beliefs on life is key to not letting events affect how we feel, long term. Because when we experience an emotional state, it leads us to take action one way or another in our lives.

If we are in a negative emotional state, guess what, we’re probably not going to take the action we’re proud of. And, if we stay in this state long-term, that’s when life may not be how we imagine or want it to be.

Again, it’s ok to feel down immediately after a tragic event and there is no set time one must “get over it” even if others are saying so.

I am confident in knowing that those we love and lose wouldn’t want us to carry on feeling anything but the best we can and living our lives to the fullest in their honor.

I decided I was doing my brother an injustice to be depressed and waste the life I am fortunate enough to live. Instead, I bring his energy with me everywhere I go as I fulfill my purpose to help others.

SALT

Although we are wrongly led to believe salt is bad for us, it’s quite imperative we consume enough of the right salt, especially while on a ketogenic diet.

That said, quality certainly matters and is why I use @redmondsrealsalt for my salty needs.

I got to spend some time with the company and their team in Utah a few months ago, check out their mine, learn how they operate and learn the benefits of quality salt, especially if you’re on a keto diet.

Some benefits of quality salt:

– supports the electrical signaling between the brain, muscles and nervous system.

– helps keep our cells hydrated.

– prevents muscle cramping.

– helps the cells uptake potassium.

– aids in digestion.

– helps the thyroid properly function.

– rich in trace minerals.

– helps nutrient absorption.

– helps maintain an adequate blood volume and blood pressure ensuring that our tissues get adequate oxygen and nutrients from the blood.

The issue is, not all salt is created equally. I use Redmond’s for the simple fact that it’s the highest quality unrefined salt on the market without the containments of microplastics and chemicals, and it contains 60+ trace minerals.

What salt do you use?

Reality > Social Media

I haven’t done this trick in over 5 months.

https://www.instagram.com/tv/B1quTtOhqMz/?igshid=1mu4yivp12sun

It’s crazy what goes into a single piece of content that gets forgotten in less than 5 minutes or gets overlooked in the first place.

With that said, far too often do we as a society see the glamor on social media that is a person’s highlight real without seeing the journey that involves the up’s and down’s along the way.

I try to be as transparent as I can in regards to all of my life, the “good” and the “bad”.

The reasons I put quotation marks around the words good and bad is because what may seem like “good” to some, may be a burden and stressor to others. Or, it may not even be the whole truth behind what’s being shown.

Same for the “bad” as one individual may see something that I see as what served me well in my life. A tragedy to one person is the single most defining moment of my life that has led me to the love of my life (@jciake), an amazing career I created for myself, and has helped me inspire and motivate others to make changes that ultimately improved their quality of life.

I am grateful for all my experiences and do my best to show you all of what goes into living the life I lead today.

Walk your talk and make sure you don’t walk into someone’s b.s. because you only get to see what they want you to see.

Make Em & Take Em

#MakeEmTakeEm refers to 2 aspects in my mind:

1) Ketosis

2) Manifestation

1) The ability to create endogenous ketones and supplement with @justpruvit pure therapeutic ketones is important for maximum optimization of our efforts living a ketogenic lifestyle. (Listen to learn why in regards to the adaptation process).

2) The ability to make a choice and take action every day that’s going to serve your desires is key to manifesting our goals and dreams.

I explain the context behind each area from my perspective.

Prüvit EVERYDAY!

Who’s walking their talk and Prüving it every SINGLE day?! Words don’t mean shit if you’re actions aren’t align, otherwise you’re speaking in theory.

Part of manifesting our desires is taking action, not just speaking or visualizing our desires.

If you’re not uncomfortable every day, you’re not doing what you need to do to create a new reality for yourself.

That’s not to say you have to dislike your life and not enjoy the process. It just means in order to grow, you need to be challenged.

In order to manifest the life we don’t currently live how we envision, we gotta grow and pursue MORE.

Otherwise, we’d be content where we are now and not have any desires.

Are you walking your talk?

My 3 Core Life Principals

I live my life by these 3 principals:

1) perspective is essential to life

2) health is internal

3) our reality is a manifestation of our choices

https://www.instagram.com/tv/B1mKgk_BclP/?igshid=1b4w815f7c5yx

After losing my brother, Danny, over a year ago to suicide, I have faced these principals in depth for how i choice to move forward with my life even tho I felt like quitting.

I can’t quit or I’d be letting my brother down and my biggest fear in life is letting down those I care about.

I’m fueled by doing right by Danny and Mirra and it’s part of what drives my efforts on the daily.

Optimize > Adapt

There is a difference with tolerating what happens in our life and challenging it.

When we are constantly “adapting”, we’re settling for tolerating or accepting life as is.

If we’re “optimizing”, we’re challenging the undesirable and uncomfortable, and taking control of creating our envisioned life.

If we are unhappy with a particular aspect of our life, it’s our own fault. Nothing else’s and no one else’s fault.

What we experience as our “environment” internally and externally, is predicated on our thoughts, emotions and actions.

This cycle becomes our personality and is what creates our personal reality every day.

If we want a new outcome for our lives, we have to make changes. It starts with our thoughts and picks up momentum with taking action in the physical form.

This is how we optimize our life for what we desire, rather than accepting the status quo.

Believe in yourself. Don’t give in to fear. Know fear is just a thought and you can replace that thought with ones of love, abundance, and gratitude.

Are you optimizing or adapting your life?
