Detachment & Desire

I’ve taken all I’ve learned from BMX and have shared as much as I can but I’ve also uncovered deeper learnings from BMX and applied to my personal and professional life outside of the sport.

This has allowed me to build a 6-figure business based on my purpose to shift perspectives and empower others to achieve success in their lives, and it’s allowed me to experience the freedom I desire more and more.

For me, freedom means an equal balance of detachment and desire.

It means to surrender and let the feelings of empowerment and joy shine through liking the path to freedom.

The more I’ve reflected on the “things” we want in life and for what purpose, the more I’ve become aware that it traces back to an emotional feeling we’re seeking. Often times to cover up an insecurity we haven’t yet faced and accepted.

Steps one and two of freedom is to become aware / familiar with yourself and accept who you are in order to surrender to detachment and desire.

From there, you can begin paving the path to freedom with the simple internal decision to let go and put your focus on your intentions and match them with a heightened emotional state.

The thought sends the signal out and the emotion draws the event into your life.

If you want to speed up time, you gotta let go of past emotional baggage and focus on overcoming your past “known” self to create a new idea version of you that’s doing, feeling, and having the things and experiences you truly want.

I’m practicing this more and more, and I’ve been challenged to let go of many things that I did on a daily basis to affirm my identity.

I’m learning I don’t need that identity and it’s so freeing to know and feel.

Unconscious Alarm Systems

Having trouble feeling grateful 100% of the time?

Welcome to the club of being a human being.

It’s unrealistic to feel the way we what every second of every day and that expectation leads to pain and suffering.

What helps shift into that desired elevated state of gratitude is PERSPECTIVE.

Perspective is being proactive about your state of being and taking a step back from the lack you are currently experiencing and recognizing while deeply believing that no matter what the circumstance is leading you to feeling anything but grateful that it could ALWAYS be worse. “Bad” things happen out of our control and there is no denying that. What we also CAN NOT deny is how we respond moving forward from experiences out of our control- that’s our responsibility as conscious human beings.

We as human beings choose to suffer chronically, though, due to our thoughts focusing on the things we don’t like, the things we don’t have, or the fears we have been conditioned to live by.

Pain is inevitable but suffering is an unconscious or sometimes conscious choice.

If you are not feeling grateful and want a tip to feel grateful, remember YOU WOKE UP. Start there!

Beyond waking up, know you’ve overcome all you’re most challenging struggles to get to where you are and are capable of more than you may currently feel in the moment.

Finally, it’s important to recognize that whatever it is you’re experiencing could always be worse or get worse.

Catching yourself in the cycle of thoughts triggering emotions (state of being) that doesn’t serve you is EVERYTHING because once aware, you can begin making changes towards what you want your future to feel, look, and be like.

I call this my “unconscious alarm” for negative self talk / thoughts.

When You Grow Up

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

We all remember being asking this as a kid, right?

The possibilities are endless we were told.

But, how sincere was this question when it was asked & how true is the latter statement? How many of us manifested that dream into our reality, better yet, how many of us actually took a risk on that dream?

It seems, although sparking creativity & inspiring imagination, this question was a mask for confirmatory disguised as an idea of a dream when those asking this question most likely didn’t take a chance on theirs…maybe they did, maybe they didn’t.

I’ve realized there are few of us that take a risk on who it is we truly want to become when we grow up & that’s because few are often supported in being that person when they’re younger.

I was encouraged to “go big and fly high”, as my mom always told me, & my family backed anything I chose to do, as long as I worked hard at it and gave it my all.

I realize not everyone has a support system as I did growing up with, but I also had my own struggles along the way.

I often hear the phrase “must be nice” or “you’re so lucky” & it pisses me off.

To me, it negates all the hard ass work, the sacrifice in a “secure” career left behind to pursue and unlikely & unconventional path, pain and suffering endured to find my way (mentally and physically), risking my life, & the countless times I fell down (figuratively and literally) in order to get to a point people have the audacity to say such things to me.

To be on a path speaking my truth to people I don’t know, 100% fueled by passion & purpose, is crazy to sit back & reflect on.

It started with a self filled dream to become a professional BMX athlete and after many unfathomable adversities along the way, I got real clear on my purpose in life to show others what’s possible when we dig deep within ourselves, even when we thought we had nothing left.

This purpose is fueled with a mission to inspire new perspectives in others to step into that untapped potential empowerment by living through the lens of my life rather than waiting for catastrophic events to occur in your life to wake up.

Focus

Focus: the center of interest or activity | pay particular attention to.

My focus was BMX.

My focus was myself.

My focus was proving others wrong.

My focus was making my dream a reality.

Then my focus shifted to staying alive after being diagnosed with a brain tumor when I was 21, 23, and again when I was 28.

After the third diagnosis and my younger brother taking his life, my focus has shifted all-in on a purpose to inspire perspective in others to take care of their brains and show them the potential we all have in life but don’t tap into it due to fear.

One aspect of my life I’m super passionate about is living a ketogenic lifestyle and how ketones have amazing ability to improve our focus among many other profound brain health benefits like mental health and increased resilience and energy production.

I’m stoked to have readily available and bio-active forms of exogenous ketones thanks to @justpruvit.

Until recently, the only form of exogenous ketones was in the form of a salt based powdered you mix with water.

Then came along Keto//UP, which is a liquid version of exogenous ketones in a free-cell technology that isn’t bound to a salt/powder.

You just crack open the can and enjoy but what’s interesting about this form of exogenous ketones is that it hits your bloodstream even more rapidly than the salt form.

This allows for quicker absorption and uptake by the brain and other cells in the body.

Thanks to SPECT imaging with @doc_amen and @ryanplowery, I have scans looking at my brain in terms of blood flow, focus, mental clarity, ADHD support, improved testing abilities, and other cognitive benefits from exogenous ketones.

What do you do for focusing in your life? Have you tried a ketogenic diet and exogenous ketones?

Thanks to @d_sunrise_w for the images and @justpruvit for having me speak and perform.

Defined by A Vision Of the Future

Are you defined by your past or a vision for your future?

I struggled with overcoming who I thought I was that was molded by my past identity and personality.

I thought who I am was determined by what I did and experienced.

It wasn’t until I began learning about consciousness and our subconscious minds that I realized I was living my current life based on a past perception of my being.

In doing so, I was creating the same reality and one could predict how my tomorrow would look based on these actions.

When I began to understand this concept on a deeper level, I began to audit my thoughts, actions and emotions that were influencing the creation of my reality today and tomorrow.

It hasn’t been easy but it’s been worth it to let go of the familiar past in an effort to focus my attention and energy on creating my future vision.

The mind is beyond powerful as it triggers the things we say, do and feel, all of which make up who we are in terms of our personality, which creates our personal reality.

By choosing to let go of who we think we were or the identity we’ve clinched onto for the familiarity of the “known”, we can grow the courage to step into the unknown where all the potential possibilities live for our future.

It hasn’t been easy to remove my past identity as I built over half my life based on it, but it’s been an amazing experience to see how much contribution I’ve given to others in the short time I’ve consciously worked on focusing my time, energy and resources to create a new version of myself build upon a future vision I’ve created based on purpose.

Subconscious Status

Why do you care what people you don’t know or like think of you?

A lot of us are afraid of judgment from others.

What’s crazy to think about is the people we’re afraid of judging us don’t affect our lives in any anyway and don’t serve a purpose either way.

So why do we still care?

Subconscious status and insecurities is why.

Think about it. Why do you want that car? That watch? That job? That house? That amount of money?

Because of how it will make us feel based on how others will perceive us.

I see friends of mine waste their money on materialistic items they “want” because of how they think it change others opinions of them after years of negativity shared their way.

When you focus on you, and only you, and what fuels you and makes you happy, you start to invest your time, energy and money differently.

I’ve found that shifting my time, energy and money towards my purpose rather than my ego has helped me create more abundance, success, love, opportunities, relationships, and feelings of happiness like non other.

Where at you investing your time, energy, and money?

Gratitude & Progression > Spite & Lack

Don’t get that quote wrong, I live and breath gratitude.

That said, I’m competitive at heart as we all are.

I didn’t make a name for myself in this world by being content.

I strived for more and pushed myself to reach new levels every step of the way.

I was fueled by a lot of spite and anger leading to my success as a professional athlete.

Then, after the first brain tumor diagnosis, my perspective shifted to one of gratitude for my life and all that was in it.

This sense of gratitude led me to wanting even more in my life, which led me on a path of serving others along the way.

What’s the use in my success if others can’t experience their success as well?

At the end of the day, it’s human nature to progress our lives in areas were passionate about.

What this journey up until this moment has taught me is that gratitude leads to abundance in all areas of life.

A simple perspective shift to that of gratitude not only changes our chemical make up, but it also attracts alike vibes from our external environments.

Sounds woohoo and all that but it’s backed by science that we can se and measure, and my life is a clear example of just that.

Gratitude & progression > spite and lack.

Actions > Theory

The desire and vision are all that matter in the beginning.

No amount of planning or education will get you where you want to go without taking action.

I know so many people that are addicted to learning as they are insecure or their abilities to achieve their desires and scared to take action, so they learn more and work on more complicated plans.

Usually fear of failure and judgment, but I’ve also experienced fear of success thinking “what will people think of me when I accomplish this” or having to go through with even more action each step we reach along the journey.

Wr are also often unclear of our life vision and the belief that our desires are possible to posses.

There’s a ton of background context leading to these false beliefs based on social conditioning, subconscious programming from a young age, and our who stepping in telling us all the reasons not to act in an effort to keep us safe.

Taking action will teach you more about yourself and the reality of the desire and journey to obtain said desire than any amount of education.

Learning without doing is learning theory. I see so many people teaching theory out of fear to act, for whatever reason fear presents itself in their perspectives. How can someone teach a topic or help others device a plan if they have no hands on experience?

I am a big fan of walking my talk and try to never teach something I have no personal experience with, because that’s theory. Just because you understand something and memorized the topic, doesn’t mean you know the application of this topic. Here’s where I have issues with people “walking their talk” as I believe that’s all that matters when teaching others or learning from someone.

A degree doesn’t mean shit to me. Multiple degrees don’t mean shit. Knowing what works and what doesn’t work, based on actual experience and not theory, means the world to me and will always trump words.

Actions > words.

Life experience > education without action.

Truth > theory.

Gratitude > fear.

Purpose > self.

Do you take action or are you a subject of paralysis analysis?

Who Are You?

This quote works really well with this weeks Podcast. If you haven’t listened, check it out! The Grey Matters Podcast!

It’s ok to feel down, angry, sad, confused, lost, alone, and so on.

It’s not ok to judge others for how they respond to hardship in their lives.

We have to remember we are human and emotions come and go. It’s harder when a negative emotion arises from the death of a loved one.

When my younger brother passed last year, I was in a dark place questioning my own life. Asking myself things like “why does it matter if I live or die”? “Why should I bother doing anything anymore”? “Should I feel guilty about living my life and ever-smiling again”?

Being clear on our life vision and confident with our beliefs on life is key to not letting events affect how we feel, long term. Because when we experience an emotional state, it leads us to take action one way or another in our lives.

If we are in a negative emotional state, guess what, we’re probably not going to take the action we’re proud of. And, if we stay in this state long-term, that’s when life may not be how we imagine or want it to be.

Again, it’s ok to feel down immediately after a tragic event and there is no set time one must “get over it” even if others are saying so.

I am confident in knowing that those we love and lose wouldn’t want us to carry on feeling anything but the best we can and living our lives to the fullest in their honor.

I decided I was doing my brother an injustice to be depressed and waste the life I am fortunate enough to live. Instead, I bring his energy with me everywhere I go as I fulfill my purpose to help others.

Prüvit EVERYDAY!

Who’s walking their talk and Prüving it every SINGLE day?! Words don’t mean shit if you’re actions aren’t align, otherwise you’re speaking in theory.

Part of manifesting our desires is taking action, not just speaking or visualizing our desires.

If you’re not uncomfortable every day, you’re not doing what you need to do to create a new reality for yourself.

That’s not to say you have to dislike your life and not enjoy the process. It just means in order to grow, you need to be challenged.

In order to manifest the life we don’t currently live how we envision, we gotta grow and pursue MORE.

Otherwise, we’d be content where we are now and not have any desires.

Are you walking your talk?
